Warren High School Audiovisual Program visits Samsung Irvine

Pioneering Audiovisual Pathway at Warren High School Partners with Samsung Electronics America for an Exclusive Field Trip Experience

On November 17, 2022, over 30 students from Warren High School's Audiovisual pathway and their instructor, Robert Paterson, embarked on an enlightening field trip to the Samsung Executive Briefing Center in Irvine, California. The event was a collaborative effort by Downey Unified School District and 2CPR Group. The field trip served as a unique professional development opportunity for these students, who are part of the first AVIXA-sponsored Audio Visual Career Pathway in the nation, which was launched in the Fall of 2022.

At the Samsung Executive Briefing Center, Jenny Shull, Sr. Key Account Manager – Education for Samsung's Display Division, and her team provided lunch for the attendees and led tours of the facility. The center showcases cutting-edge commercial display, TV, and monitor solutions, including The Wall, direct-view LED, outdoor signage, interactive displays, 4K UHD, and LCD video walls. It also features the Samsung SMART Signage Platform (SSSP) and MagicINFO, which are smart, intuitive digital signage software solutions available on a variety of Samsung commercial displays.

California's $178 billion AV industry has a documented need for a younger and more diverse workforce. In response, Warren High School enrolled over 50 students in its Audiovisual pathway to engage with industry partners throughout Southern California. The Samsung Executive Briefing Center visit was an exciting chance for these students to explore the latest in audiovisual technology and gain insights into potential career opportunities.

Sean Glumace, Chief Operating Officer for 2CPR Group, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, "Our collaboration with Samsung Electronics America is a key factor in exposing these talented students to the vast opportunities within the AV industry. It not only broadens their horizons but also equips them with the knowledge and tools they need to contribute to a rapidly growing and evolving market."

Carmen Tovar from Bayha Group played a crucial role in organizing the logistics for the field trip, ensuring a smooth and memorable experience for the students and their instructor. The partnership with Samsung is an essential element in getting students excited about the possibilities in the AV field.

2CPR Group has been instrumental in working with AVIXA, Warren High School, and Downey Unified School District to build and launch the innovative Audiovisual pathway. In its inaugural year, the pathway consists of two courses spanning 300 hours over two years: Audiovisual Technology Essentials and Audiovisual Technology Capstone. These courses were designed based on AVIXA's standards and have received UC A-G (G) approval, ensuring their rigor and relevance in preparing students for success in the AV industry.

As the AV industry continues to expand and evolve, programs like Warren High School's Audiovisual pathway play a critical role in shaping the future workforce. By providing students with hands-on experiences and fostering relationships with industry leaders like Samsung Electronics America, these initiatives help to bridge the gap between education and the professional world. The success of this field trip serves as a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in cultivating the next generation of audiovisual professionals, poised to contribute to the ever-growing, dynamic AV landscape.
